Pisces Eclipse, September 7, 2025: Personal Responsibility, Collective Destiny

Quick note: My posts are layered. The intro + closing share the essence, while the aspect breakdowns are for those who love the deeper dive. Read your way — the message will come through either way.

A Total Lunar Eclipse in Pisces (not visible in North America) occurs on September 7, 2025, at 2:09 pm EDT at 15°23′. As the luminaries oppose each other in the evening sky, they echo the call we’ve been hearing through recent lunations (most recently the August 23rd New Moon): to move the needle away from ego, hyper-rationalization, and control (Sun conjunct the South Node in Virgo), and further toward intuition, sympathy, and compassion (Moon conjunct the North Node in Pisces).

That Virgo New Moon carried the weight of the outer planets — a collective summons, a reminder that great tides of change are reshaping our shared future. This Pisces Eclipse, however, is marked by personal planets — Jupiter, Mars, and Venus — reminding us that the collective begins and ends with each one of us. Change only becomes real when it is lived in daily choices, relationships, and acts of compassion.

A chorus of these personal planets now joins the song, supporting the celestial heavyweights and the nodes. At the risk of repeating myself, this is the theme of September: we stand between the Virgo Full Moon of August 23rd and the Partial Solar Eclipse in Virgo on September 21st, rehearsing for the curtain to rise on a collective paradigm shift beginning in 2026.

We are being called to lean more into sympathy and empathy, and loosen the grip of strictness, relentlessness and control. Under this eclipse, Jupiter, Mars, and Venus add texture to the energies at play, helping us balance head and heart. Some aspects may feel tense, but think of this eclipse as a pruning — the release of dead branches to make room for abundant new growth. What is ready to be cleared so you can grow?

New Moon Aspects:

  • Eclipse - Moon Conjunct the North Node / Sun Conjunct the South Node

  • Moon trine Jupiter in Cancer / Sun is sextile Jupiter in Cancer

  • Moon quincunx  Mars / Sun semisextile Mars  (Note - Mars is in detriment in Libra)

  • Moon quincunx Venus in Leo / Sun semisextile Venus in Leo

Aspect Deets:

  • Moon conjunct the North Node in Pisces / Sun conjunct the South Node in Virgo

    • This eclipse opens a doorway between what we’re being asked to grow into and what we’re ready to release. With the Moon on the North Node in Pisces, the collective is called to rise into unity — to soften separation, awaken compassion, and trust that a greater wisdom is guiding us. Opposite this, the Sun with the South Node in Virgo shines a spotlight on habits we’ve outgrown: the perfectionism, control, and critique that keep us tangled in details instead of open to possibility. Together, these alignments ask us to step out of smallness and rigidity, and into a more visionary, compassionate, and interconnected way of being.

  • Moon trine Jupiter in Cancer / Sun sextile Jupiter in Cancer

    • Jupiter in Cancer acts as a cosmic amplifier of care, nourishment, and emotional wisdom during this eclipse. With the Moon in Pisces trine Jupiter, our intuition and sensitivity are heightened, opening us to deeper empathy and the ability to truly sit with and understand the feelings of others. At the same time, the Sun in Virgo’s sextile to Jupiter brings a gentle balance — optimism, resilience, and the ability to offer kindness without losing discernment. Together, these aspects remind us that compassion doesn’t mean abandoning responsibility and hard work; it’s about extending care while keeping our feet on solid ground. This is healing energy, both tender and steady, helping us imagine a productive yet more supportive and emotionally intelligent future.

  • Moon quincunx  Mars / Sun semisextile Mars  - (Mars is in detriment in Libra)

    •  Mars in Libra is already on delicate footing — the warrior is forced to trade his armor for diplomacy, while navigating the realm of balance, fairness, and tact.

    •  In this eclipse, Mars forms an awkward quincunx to the Moon, stirring up emotional inconsistency. Feelings may flare in unpredictable ways, leaving us (and others) unsure of where we truly stand. Misunderstandings can surface easily, not because the issues are monumental, but because unspoken needs and frustrations come out sideways and easily spin out of control and into conflict.

    • At the same time, the Sun’s semisextile to Mars reminds us that our actions must line up with our deeper intentions. This aspect asks us to refine how we pursue our desires — not just the goals themselves, but the way we show up and act along the path to achieving them.

    • Together, these aspects urge us to practice emotional honesty without volatility, and to channel passion into clear, constructive and considerate action. We are asked to create an alignment between what we feel, what we want, and how we mindfully move forward with a thoughtful and cooperative spirit.

  • Moon quincunx Venus in Leo / Sun semisextile Venus in Leo

    • Love, self-worth, and recognition take center stage under this eclipse. The Moon’s tension with Venus stirs up feelings that what we give and what we receive in relationships may not be in balance. We may find ourselves craving more affection, appreciation, or reassurance than is being offered — or noticing where we’ve been giving from a place of expectation rather than genuine generosity. It can feel like love is on a lopsided scale, leaving us either undernourished or overextended.

    • The Sun’s subtle friction with Venus adds another layer: our sense of authority and will doesn’t always line up with our desire for love and connection. At times, we may dim our light to keep the peace, bending our values or hiding parts of ourselves to avoid rejection. Other times, pride or ego may step in, making it harder to soften and let intimacy flow.

    • Together, these aspects ask us to re-examine how we love — both ourselves and others. Are we honoring our true values in relationships? Are we seeking validation at the cost of authenticity? The invitation here is to balance self-expression with self-worth, learning to give and receive love with openness, without scorekeeping, and without losing sight of who we are.

In Closing…
This eclipse brings us face to face with the contrast of the nodes: the Virgo South Node asking us to release rigidity, critique, and control, while the Pisces North Node calls us into compassion, trust, and unity. Jupiter amplifies both heart and wisdom, Venus stirs questions of love and self-worth, and Mars challenges us to act with honesty and grace. Together, they weave a message that’s bigger than any one aspect — it’s about how we evolve both individually and collectively.

And yet, this eclipse is not a standalone moment. It is part of a larger period of alignment that began with the Virgo New Moon on August 23rd and continues through the partial Solar Eclipse on September 21st. These weeks form a passage  - as we prepare for the burgeoning new collective era  poised to break through the soil in the spring of 2026.

The August New Moon carried the voice of the outer planets, reminding us that sweeping collective change is already in motion. But this Pisces Eclipse emphasizes the personal planets, calling each of us to take responsibility for how those larger shifts take root in our daily lives. The collective is shaped through the individual — through how we choose love, courage, and compassion in the smallest moments.

So yes, think of this eclipse as cosmic pruning — but not only cutting away what’s dead. This whole stretch of time is shaping the tree, clearing the cluttered branches, and letting more light reach the parts of ourselves and our world that are ready to thrive. What we release now, across this series of lunations, creates space for the heart’s fuller expression.

As the curtain slowly rises on the paradigm shift ahead, we’re reminded: our growth doesn’t come from tightening our grip, but from softening into trust, compassion, and interconnection. When we release what’s rigid, we discover the strength and beauty of what still wants to grow.

In light and love,

Brenda
