2026 Virgo New Moon: Big Change Doesn't Always Require a Big Leap

Quick note: My posts are usually layered. The introduction and closing carry the heart of the message; the aspect breakdowns are for those who enjoy the deeper cosmic mechanics. Read your way—the message will land.

On Thursday, September 10, at 11:27 p.m. EDT, at 18°25′ the Virgo New Moon will rise under a cloak of darkness.

This Virgo New Moon echoes one of the main themes of the August 28th Pisces Lunar Eclipse: integrating head and heart, balancing logic and intuition. And we may continue to be cosmically confronted with finding our equilibrium between these two forces through the final eclipse on the Pisces/Virgo axis on February 20, 2027. (Eclipses on this axis began in September 2024.)

The sextile with Mars offers the oomph to move toward our aspirations—but the rough edges of Mars are significantly softened as it traverses Cancerian waters. Rather than charging ahead at all costs, Mars in Cancer encourages action that is emotionally intelligent, protective, and rooted in what feels meaningful.

This New Moon not only supports us in taking our goals from possibilities to probabilities, but invites us to pursue them holistically—with care, intention, and even a little joy.

What makes this New Moon particularly interesting is that it also provides us with helpful hints about the adjustments we can make to turn our dreams into realities, while remaining tender with ourselves and actually enjoying the process.

View this New Moon as you would a good yoga or Pilates instructor gently guiding you toward your goals. You don't necessarily need to work harder. Sometimes you simply need to adjust your position, shift your alignment, grab a towel or pillow for support, and let go of the idea that achievement has to hurt.

The sextile with Mars in Cancer encourages us to move forward, while the quincunxes to Jupiter in Leo and Saturn in Aries teach us how to make the necessary adjustments along the way.

All the while, Jupiter in Leo trining Saturn in Aries provides the grounded, optimistic playlist—creating a slow-burning momentum that helps our vision meet a blueprint.

So consider this Virgo New Moon your cosmic Pilates session:

We're not here to kill ourselves getting there.
It’s to get there feeling refreshed, renewed and ready to roll.

It asks us to consider upping our game from Running on Empty to Ready to Shine.

New Moon Aspects

Sextile Mars in Cancer - The Gentle Goal

This aspect offers a gentle invitation to bring care into the places where life has become overly complicated.

Virgo knows what needs tending; Cancer knows what needs nurturing. Together, they remind us that creating order isn't about perfecting ourselves—it is about creating the conditions in which we can feel supported enough to thrive.

Mars in Cancer is considered to be in its fall, because Mars can't operate with its usual direct, assertive force. Instead, it has to navigate the deep, winding river of Cancerian emotion. Before taking action, it wants to know: Is this safe? Does this really matter? Does this come from the heart?

Rather than shooting first and asking questions later—or simply pushing ourselves harder—we are encouraged to listen more deeply to what our bodies, emotions, and inner lives have been trying to tell us.

What needs to be cared for?
What needs to be protected?
What simple change would make everyday life feel a little more nourishing?

This is Virgo's practical wisdom softened by Cancer's compassion.

Discipline doesn't have to be punishment. A routine can be an act of love. Rest can be productive.

Caring for yourself is not something you earn after everything else is done—it is part of what makes everything else possible.

Semisextile Jupiter in Leo — Adjustment #1: Towel & Pillow Supports

This aspect provides us with an opportunity to consider something deceptively simple:

How do we make room for our bigger dreams within the reality of our everyday lives?

Jupiter in Leo wants to expand through joy, creativity, confidence, visibility, and wholehearted self-expression. It wants to play, create, take up space, and follow the spark of what makes us feel alive.

Virgo, meanwhile, brings us back to earth—asking us to tend to the details, organize what matters, and create daily rhythms that can actually support the life we envision.

The semisextile creates a subtle invitation to bring these two energies into conversation. Not by shrinking our Leo dreams to fit neatly into our schedules, nor by expecting inspiration alone to carry us forward, but by finding practical ways to give our enthusiasm somewhere to live.

Virgo helps us turn possibility into probability—one small, intentional adjustment at a time.

And here's the other lesson: you can’t let Virgo's inner critic become the gatekeeper of your joy.

Sometimes, we can become so focused on doing things correctly, efficiently, or perfectly that we suck the joy right out of what we wanted to do in the first place.

Jupiter in Leo reminds us that growth isn't supposed to be all work.

Use this New Moon to make practical changes that support your expansion without suffocating your spirit.

Your dreams don't need to become smaller to fit into your life.
Your life may simply need to become more intentional about making room for them.

Quincunx Saturn in Aries — Adjustment #2: Block or Wedge

What are we ready to birth—and/or what can simply be adjusted?

The Virgo New Moon is planting a seed for something new, while Saturn in Aries asks us to take responsibility for what we are willing to initiate. There may be a genuine desire to move toward something different, to reignite our sense of aliveness, or to begin creating something we've been thinking about for a while.

But Virgo and Saturn have a few questions before we grab the matches.

What about the details?

Virgo wants to know what needs to be organized, refined, repaired, or rearranged. Saturn wants to know whether what we're building has the structure to support the thing we're trying to create.

The quincunx creates tension between the desire to begin and the need to adjust.

Sometimes you have the answers to all of Virgo’s questions and the supporting structure for a whole new beginning passes Saturn muster.  And when those times arise, move forward.

Other times we are not so certain or we simply don’t have all the answers or a firm support system to help us move forward and it is in those times, the best response isn't to abandon the pose—or force ourselves deeper into it.

It's to find support through adjustments.

In yoga, when we're tight or uncomfortable in a pose, using a block or wedge doesn't mean we've failed. It simply changes our position enough to make the pose more accessible. It gives us the support we need to stay with the experience while our body gradually adjusts.

This is the wisdom of the Virgo New Moon meeting Saturn in Aries.

And whatever shift does evolve within the existing framework of our life might create just enough space for something new to emerge?

No need to demolish the house because it needs a new roof.

So, the point isn't to convince ourselves that everything is fine exactly as it is.

It's to give ourselves the opportunity to discover whether a thoughtful adjustment can create the change we're looking for.

So if you're standing on the precipice of uncertainty, try the block. Try the wedge. Change your position.

Jupiter in Leo trines Saturn in Aries - The Playlist

There is something wonderfully encouraging about this trine: the part of us that wants to grow and the part of us that knows how to commit can actually work together.

Jupiter in Leo brings faith in ourselves. It reminds us that we are allowed to want more—to dream bigger, create boldly, take up space, and pursue the things that make us feel alive.

Saturn in Aries asks us to take ourselves seriously enough to act on those desires. Not because we need to prove ourselves, but because our potential means very little if we never give it a chance to become real.

The soundtrack of this lunation is get goin’, gett’er done but have a blueprint.

Jupiter gives us the willingness to believe in what is possible. Saturn gives us the courage to take responsibility for making it possible.

More importantly, the question isn't simply:

“What do I want?”

It's:

“What am I willing to believe in—and then back with my actions?”

In Closing…

Perhaps the greatest gift of this Virgo New Moon is it has options.

Sometimes we need a fresh start - and this moon is saying if you have back-up in the deets and the supporting structure of your future framework is solid, Go For It!.

If you don’t or are simply uncertain what to do, then see if a simple adjustment within your current structure does the trick.  You can always gather the required supporting info and begin developing a new life structure, while testing the adjustment.

The important thing to remember is while you can always pull the trigger later, you can never pull back the bullet once the gun has been fired.

The cosmos is not asking us to stay stuck.  It is asking us to consider how we want to approach needed change.

The Virgo New Moon may be an exacting, demanding perfectionist, but…

Mars in Cancer reminds us to move with care.

Jupiter in Leo reminds us to make room for joy.

Saturn in Aries reminds us to trust our own authority enough to take the step.

The Saturn/Jupiter trine reminds us that expansion and discipline don't have to be enemies. They can become partners in creating something that is both meaningful and sustainable.

Move with purpose, care and joy!

New Moon Blessings,

Brenda
