2026 Blue Full Moon in Sagittarius: A Searchlight for Truth and Awakening

On Sunday, May 31st, at 4:45AM EDT, the Full Moon will illuminate the sky at 9°55′ of Sagittarius.  

This lunation is also a Blue Moon, meaning it is the second Full Moon occurring within the same calendar month.  Blue Moons occur approximately every 33 months and, in some astrological circles, are believed to amplify the Full Moon’s revelatory nature — drawing into the light what has remained hidden, unresolved, denied or quietly simmering beneath the surface.

Unresolved issues, blind spots, hidden agendas, subconscious patterns, unspoken truths and gaps in our progress may suddenly feel impossible to ignore. Emotions may heighten. Reactions may intensify. Restlessness may rise.

So perhaps this Blue Moon energy is the cosmos moving from a spotlight to a searchlight.

The Sagittarius/Gemini axis governs the dance between information and wisdom, facts and beliefs, questions and meaning.  Gemini gathers the pieces; Sagittarius seeks the truth they reveal.  Under this Full Moon, revelations may challenge outdated narratives, expose gaps between perception and reality and push us toward a more honest understanding of ourselves, others and the rapidly shifting world around us.

While this Sagittarius Full Moon may create uncomfortable, adjustment-seeking aspects to personal planets Venus and Mars, it also forms beautifully harmonious connections to Saturn, Neptune and Pluto — planets associated with collective evolution, spiritual development, accountability and deep transformation.

Meaning… while some uncomfortable personal adjustments may be required, those shifts may ultimately help us more authentically align with — and create — the outer world we truly desire.

Inconjunct Venus in Cancer

Sagittarius is mutable fire, yearning to explore beyond the horizon in search of meaning, truth and new experiences. Cancer is cardinal water, longing for emotional safety, familiarity and heartfelt connection.  Fire seeks expansion; water seeks protection and nourishment. Yet too much fire can scorch what sustains us, while too much water can extinguish the spark that calls us forward.

This inconjunct with the Moon may illuminate where our desire for freedom and expansion has driven us out of alignment with our need for comfort, care and belonging — or where the waters of emotional safety and familiarity have begun to drown out our adventurous spirit and hunger for growth.

This energy calls for thoughtful adjustments, reminding us that true alignment requires honoring both our restless spirit and our need for a secure emotional foundation. The challenge lies in creating a life where growth does not come at the expense of emotional well-being, and where safety does not become a cage that limits our evolution.

Mars in Taurus is in its detriment.  It is forced to move with steady, grounded determination, valuing Taurus’s consistency, patience and tangible results.  Sagittarius is mutable fire — instinctive, exploratory, and driven by meaning-making that often moves faster than all the facts are in place.

This inconjunct may illuminate where our urge to act, expand or pursue truth meets resistance from a slower, more deliberate rhythm that prioritizes stability, embodiment and sustainability — or where fixed momentum can feel like it is resisting the call toward growth and change.
