2025 Scorpio New Moon: The Gatekeeper Guiding Mercury Retrograde Back to Venus

Quick note: My posts are layered. The intro + closing share the essence, while the aspect breakdowns are for those who love the deeper dive. Read your way — the message will come through either way.

On November 20th at 1:47 AM (EST), at 28°11′ Scorpio, the New Moon rises
a pivotal chapter in the Mercury retrograde chronicles hinted at in the November 2nd Taurus Full Moon post, when Mercury slipped out of Mars’s fiery grip in Sagittarius and began his return to Venus in Scorpio.

At this juncture of the saga, Mercury Rx (retrograde) conjuncts the Scorpio New Moon, and together they activate a cluster of aspects: completing a Grand Water Trine with Neptune Rx and Saturn Rx in Pisces and Jupiter Rx in Cancer, while sextiling Pluto in Aquarius and opposing Uranus Rx in Taurus. All of this unfolds beneath a soundtrack scored by 5 Rx planets and Venus in Scorpio, harmonizing with the North Node in Pisces—a reflective, deeply soulful, magnetic melody anticipating Mercury’s arrival to Venus’s sanctuary on November 25th and the transformation his journey is calling forth.

As Mercury turned retrograde and pulled away from Mars, he shed the fiery urgency that ignited this entire storyline. Now he slips back into Scorpio’s shadows, where the New Moon awaits like a threshold guardian. This lunation becomes his crossing point—where the heat of Mars gives way to the cool, psychic waters he must navigate in order to reach Venus, who waits holding the heart-knowledge he is destined to retrieve.

The New Moon dims outer-world noise and draws Mercury inward, its silence acting as a veil between worlds. Here the mind grows reflective, instinct sharpens, and the journey shifts from reaction to revelation. This moment mirrors Mercury’s retrograde both astrologically and mythically: a step away from battle and toward the realm of Venus, where meaning is made through emotional truth.

What Mercury gathers in these depths will guide him once he turns direct on November 29th, following Venus out of Scorpio’s underworld corridors and into Sagittarius, where what was learned in darkness crystallizes into understanding. That understanding will surface personally and collectively as we approach the Gemini Full Moon on December 4th, and again when Mercury meets Uranus and Pluto for his third and final pass between December 11th and 15th.

But for now, we stand at the Scorpio New Moon—Venus’s gatekeeper.
This is where we, like Mercury, must descend to recover the part of the heart we left behind in our relentless forward motion during Mercury’s time beside Mars (mid-October up to the retrograde turn on November 9th).
This is the moment to reclaim our heart.

Soulful Stirrings: The Heart’s Quest — Mercury Retrograde & the Scorpio New Moon

Venus’s Gatekeeper: The Scorpio New Moon

  • As Mercury retrogrades away from Mars and into the quiet of the Scorpio New Moon, he steps into the underworld not as the clever messenger nor the quick-witted analyst, but more akin to the Fool’s Journey through the Tarot —stepping through a gate where all familiar light is extinguished and stripped of the heat, urgency, and defenses that fueled his recent battles.

  • The New Moon acts as a threshold guardian, dimming external noise and pulling him inward. Here, Mercury must shift from reacting to sensing, trading mental clarity for the instinctive navigation required in Scorpio’s dark waters.

  • What the New Moon teaches is simple but not easy: surrender certainty, face the truths beneath the mind’s chatter, and let feelings, balance and intuition lead. This is the initiation Venus expects him to complete before he reaches her.

  • Only by embracing emotional honesty and vulnerability can Mercury retrieve the heart-knowledge Venus carries.  This encounter prepares him for the path ahead—following Venus through Scorpio’s depths and eventually into Sagittarius where everything learned in darkness becomes understanding.  What he learns alongside the Scorpio New Moon and under the gaze of the outer planets will unfold outwardly as we move toward the Gemini Full Moon (Dec 4) and again when Mercury re-encounters Uranus and Pluto during his final pass (Dec 11–15).

The  Council of Waters - Mercury Rx & the New Moon create a Grand Trine with Neptune, Saturn,& Jupiter

  • As Mercury retrograde joins the Scorpio New Moon, their union completes a Grand Water Trine with Neptune, Saturn, and Jupiter—cradling Mercury and the New Moon in a triad of emotional and spiritual intelligence. This becomes the emotional and spiritual support system he lacked during his fiery, impulsive days beside Mars. Jupiter offers emotional wisdom, Neptune opens the deeper spiritual currents, and Saturn provides the quiet, steadying structure that keeps Mercury from drifting off-course. Together, they form a fluid but reliable container for his descent—and for ours.

  • Individually, this trine heightens intuition, deepens emotions, and brings us closer to the truth beneath our surface reactions. Collectively, it softens the atmosphere, encouraging compassion, humility, and a willingness to listen rather than react.

  • Within this watery council, Mercury and the New Moon are encouraged to explore the full depth of feelings and beliefs—not to react, but to balance thought with emotion. The same invitation extends to us. This trine softens our defensive edges, draws us inward, and deepens our capacity for honest self reflection.  It teaches us how to sit with our emotions without rushing to fix, justify, or explain them.

  • Just as Mercury gains a deeper, more mature emotional understanding for his eventual forward motion, we too are offered a moment of refinement: the opportunity to respond with greater dignity and clarity than we may have in our own recent “Mars moments.” With this growing steadiness, Mercury continues toward Venus—just as we move toward a more grounded, heartfelt version of ourselves.

The Unseen Master:  Mercury Rx & New Moon Sextile Pluto in Aquarius

  • Deeper into the underworld corridor, Pluto in Aquarius appears—not with spectacle, but with an undeniable pull from the edges of consciousness.  His sextile is an opening, a whispered summons to transformation. Pluto is the Unseen Master here: the architect who designs the path.

  • For Mercury, this sextile grants access to a level of perception that doesn’t arise through feeling but through clarity of perspective—seeing the patterns beneath reactions, the power dynamics woven through exchanges, the truths that have always been in plain sight.  And for us, the invitation is the same. Pluto helps us step outside our narratives long enough to recognize what’s actually happening beneath them. He sharpens awareness, unearthing what we’ve normalized, tolerated, or avoided.

  • Under Pluto’s spectral guidance, Mercury understands that descent isn’t just emotional—it’s structural. It transforms the scaffolding inside us that shapes how we think, respond, and relate.

  • Individually, this sextile urges us to dismantle outdated mental habits, release defensive reflexes, and confront inner scripts that no longer fit. Collectively, Pluto in Aquarius reveals shifting systems and outdated assumptions, urging us toward more honest and innovative thinking.

  • Pluto doesn’t erupt here; he refines. He strips the noise until what remains is honest, lean, and aligned. While in this chamber, Mercury and ourselves have an opportunity to gain a clearer perception.  One that assists us in understanding the awakening and aha moments offered by Uranus.

The Awakener at the Threshold: Mercury Rx & New Moon Opposite Uranus in Taurus

  • While the Grand Water Trine provides emotional scaffolding, and Pluto engineers the deeper internal shifts, Uranus strikes like lightning—delivering flashes of insight that pierce the darkness. His opposition to Mercury and the New Moon offers sudden understanding, illuminating what Pluto intends to reshape: our ingrained reactions, our unspoken dynamics, the truths we step over.

  • Here, Uranus acts as the cosmic interrupter—awakening what has grown too familiar or too quiet. He breaks stagnation, shocks patterns into visibility, and jolts us toward liberation.

  • Together, the trine provides the support needed for Pluto’s transformative pressure and  Uranus’s jolts of clarity.  This is all designed to push us toward meaningful, honest, mental and emotional clarity and alignment..

The Journey’s Soundtrack:  Venus in Scorpio Trine the North Node in Pisces

  • As Mercury moves through his underworld initiation, a distant music plays—low, magnetic, unmistakably Venusian. Venus in Scorpio composes the soundtrack of this journey, steeped in depth, longing, truth, and emotional honesty. Her trine to the North Node in Pisces is a guiding tone beneath the surface, calling Mercury toward the kind of connection that can only be formed through vulnerability.

  • She isn’t merely waiting for his return on November 25—she is shaping his path by infusing it with meaning. Every emotional insight, every revelation in the dark subtly tunes Mercury to the frequency he must embody before reaching her sanctuary.

  • And just as Mercury responds, so do we. Venus and the North Node activate our own soul-longings—our desires, our sense of where we are being spiritually pulled next. They remind us that evolution is not just mental or emotional but profoundly relational.

  • We’re being called toward what feels spiritually aligned, emotionally courageous, and soulfully honest. The Scorpio New Moon is the gatekeeper of the descent; Pluto and Uranus catalyze awakening—but Venus gives the journey purpose. Her song aligns us with our North Node path, calling us toward the relationships, creative expressions, and spiritual connections that shape our next true becoming.

Closing Reflection…

As we rise from this Scorpio New Moon portal and the Mercury retrograde path that shapes it, we stand at a profound threshold — not just as individuals, but as a collective species poised on the edge of a new era. The skies are already whispering the coming shift: Uranus, Neptune, Saturn and Jupiter  preparing to migrate into Air and Fire in 2026, accelerating humanity into a paradigm fueled by innovation, intellect, and speed.

But this moment — this one right now — is one of many soul check points we have encountered.  It’s asking…

Will we charge forward, driven solely by mental agility, technological prowess, and the intoxicating rush of progress, leaving our personal and collective heart gasping in the wake of our own momentum?  Will we forget the lesson Scorpio keeps tattooing on our bones — that evolution without empathy becomes cruelty, and intelligence without compassion becomes a weapon?

Or… have we finally learned?

Have the cycles, the reckonings, the exposes, the losses, the revelations, and the resurrections softened us enough to remember what actually matters?

Because the future we’re stepping into will not be defined by innovation alone — but by the consciousness guiding it.
By whether we allow the mind to outrun the heart,  invite the heart to lead the mind or choose to bring them into lock step with one another.

This lunation asks us — each of us, and all of us — to choose the trajectory of our becoming.
To consider presence over speed.
Compassion over conquest.
Humanity over machinery.
Soul over spectacle.

The cosmos can chart the road,  but we decide the direction.

And this moment?
Is another crossroad on which the collective story turns.

New Moon and Mercury Retrograde Blessings
