2025 Sagittarius New Moon: Endings, Beginnings and the Venus–Mars Midpoint

Quick note: My posts are usually layered. The intro and closing carry the heart of the message; the aspect breakdowns are for those who love the deeper cosmic mechanics. Read your way — the message will land.

On December 19th at 8:43 PM EST, the New Moon arrives at 28°24’ Sagittarius, blazing through the final degrees of the zodiac’s truth-seeker. This is not a quiet lunation. It is a cosmic proclamation — a call to declare what you believe, what you stand for, and what kind of future you’re consciously designing.

This New Moon sits at the midpoint between Venus (22° Sag) and Mars (2° Capricorn) — a midpoint that spotlights (as did Mercury’s retrograde) our balance when it comes to power, force, aggression and competition vs love, sympathy, relationship and collaboration.   It asks…

  • How can we lead with clarity and direction while still living from the heart?

  • How do we stay efficient and effective without tipping into aggression or force?

  • How do we pursue meaningful goals while also nurturing the relationships that support them?

  • And how do we let both sides coexist — ambition and empathy — without diminishing either one?

Unlike Scorpio’s deep internal processing, Sagittarius wants us to live our revelations out loud. To say the thing. To stake a claim. To plant a flag. This lunation asks:

What intentions are we setting to ensure our influence, passion, power, and heart work together rather than compete?

Are we “all in this together,” or are we still quietly defaulting to “every person for themselves”?

This New Moon also squares three outer planets hovering near the anaretic degree — the final, fated threshold of their signs, signifying endings wrapped inside beginnings.

Like a cosmic moving truck parked in the driveway, each planet is asking:

What are you leaving behind?
And what non-negotiable values must come with you into 2026?

This New Moon is not just a beginning — it’s a launch window built on the ashes of an old era that is already dissolving beneath our feet.

This lunation asks the real questions no one wants to say out loud:

  • Are we capable of emotional and intellectual parity?

  • Can we build a future where progress isn’t fueled by conquest, but by ethical cooperation?

  • Can ambition and compassion sit at the same table?

  • Can efficiency be humane?

We are literally building our future right now.

Not metaphorically.  Not someday.  Right now.

And Sagittarius wants us to be blunt about it.

  • What do you want to stand for?

  • What do you want to support?

  • What kind of world do you want to be caught co-creating?

The pondering phase is over.  This is declaration energy.  This is “say it with your full chest” energy.

New Moon Aspects:

Midpoint of Mars and Venus -   The Efficiency of Heart-Centered Action

  • Venus and Mars describe how we pursue what we want (Mars) and how we relate, harmonize, or connect (Venus). The midpoint between them is where we learn to be:

    • efficient without being cold

    • motivated without being ruthless

    • passionate without being forceful

    • collaborative without losing momentum

  • Marc Edmund Jones called this midpoint “the principle of efficiency” — getting things done without sacrificing heart, pleasure, or connection.

  • The Sun and Moon are both activating this midpoint:

    • The Sun highlights purposeful, directed action aligned with our values.

    • The Moon makes emotional attunement part of the process.

  • This New Moon is where kindness becomes an ally, not a liability.

Square Neptune in Pisces - The Dissolving of Old Illusions

  • Neptune’s final weeks in Pisces are a spiritual climax — the last big wave before the tide turns.  The square challenges us to reconcile our spiritual ideals (Neptune)with our philosophies, beliefs, and convictions (Sagittarius)  This tension exposes:

    • Where are we being asked to turn spiritual insight into practical understanding?

    • Which beliefs or narratives no longer feel true, even if they once brought comfort?

    • Where have our beliefs morphed into dogma?

  • The New Moon asks us to ground our spirituality in reality by asking

    • What truth are we finally ready to accept?

    • What belief are we finally ready to outgrow?

  • This transit may bring emotional release, identity dissolution, and the shedding of illusions that can no longer survive the coming era.

Square Saturn in Pisces - Vision Meets Reality

  • Saturn in Pisces brings emotional accountability and karmic refinement.
Its square to the New Moon highlights:

    • the gap between what we aspire to and what we’re actually doing

    • the structures we need to support our visions

    • the emotional boundaries we must honor to grow

  • Sagittarius dreams big.   Saturn asks: Great. But what’s your plan?  This tension is not punishment.  It’s alignment.

  • It’s where lofty ideals meet practical steps — and where fantasies mature into sustainable commitments.

Quincunx Uranus in Taurus - Breakthroughs in Values and Stability

  • A quincunx is an adjustment aspect — awkward but fertile.

  • Uranus in Taurus disrupts:  financial systems, comfort zones, our view of wealth and self worth, sustainable growth and the illusion of stability.

  • Sagittarius wants freedom, vision, possibility.

  •  Uranus wants evolution — now.

  • Together they ask:

    • Where must our worldview evolve so our reality can change with it?

    • What values need innovating?

    • What part of our “this is who we are” as a collective or - “this is just who I am” as an individual identity is asking to be rewritten?

  • This is a pivot point — a chance to merge philosophical fire with material reality.

In Closing…

This Sagittarius New Moon is not gentle.  It is clarifying, catalytic, and — if we let it be — highly liberating.

The Sag New Moon asks similar questions to the Gemini Full Moon and Scorpio New Moon before it.

  • What are we aiming for?

  • What truth are we finally willing to speak?

  • Can our future be built with both conviction and compassion?

  • Can our goals be both ambitious and humane?

However, unlike the previous lunations, where we were asked to contemplate these thoughts or deliberate a path at a cross road, this lunation is asking for our full, unbridled participation in this co-creative process.

This New Moon is the spark.
Whether we step into its fiery, honest momentum or linger on the sidelines, this New Moon is the spark that turns inner alignment into outward direction — declaring the course we are truly ready to chart.

Happy Holidays and New Moon Blessings,
Brenda
